WEDDING GOWN PRESERVATION
Gracyn Elizabeth offers the service of wedding gown preservation. All you have to do is bring your dress into the boutique and we ship it off to be preserved! They allow up to three items to be put in the clear front box along with the dress. Only the dress will be cleaned but all items will be preserved.
This procedure takes about 6-8 weeks…but does it really matter how long it takes? Are you planning on wearing this dress again soon??
We didn’t think so either.
This service is only $220.00 plus tax and can be taken care of any day of the week, Monday- Saturday. Please call us with any other questions!
We offer two complimentary pressings for your gown. The first pressing will be done for your portrait and the second pressing will be done for your big day! This is a $350 value we offer brides who buy their gown at our boutique.
All you need to do is drop it off Monday-Friday and let us know when you need the pressing completed. We only do pickups Monday-Friday as we do not have a place to store your pressed gown on the busy weekends.
No appointment is necessary to bring in your gown… just drop it off, tell us when you need it, and we will take care of the rest!
Gracyn Elizabeth Bride does not offer in-house alterations, however, we have seamstress' that work exclusively with our Gracyn Elizabeth girls. Once your gown is paid for in full, we will provide you with contact information to be able to set up an appointment for your first fitting.
How long does the alterations process take?
We recommend starting your alterations when your gown arrives. Some gowns require multiple fittings to ensure the perfect fit. Even if your gown does not require many alterations, we always suggest starting the alterations process as soon as possible to alleviate any last-minute stress as your wedding day approaches.
How much do alterations cost?
The cost of alterations varies from gown to gown and is not included in the price of your dress. The seamstress will provide you with a fine-tuned estimate during your first fitting after your dress arrives.
What if I purchased my gown elsewhere?
We have contact information we can provide you with to other reliable seamstress'.
How should I prepare for my first fitting?
It is important to bring your wedding shoes to your first fitting so your seamstress can determine the changes needed to hem your gown.
If you have an idea of which undergarments you will be wearing on your wedding day, please bring those with you to your first fitting. If you need help figuring out which undergarments will work best with your gown, the seamstress can give you advice about that.
If you have any heirloom jewelry or keepsake items that you know you will be wearing for your wedding, please bring those items with you. Our seamstresses and bridal stylists can help you incorporate these special items into your wedding day look, for example by stitching a small piece of fabric from your mother's wedding dress into the lining of your gown for your "something old", or sewing a piece of ribbon into your hem for your "something blue"!
What should I expect during my first fitting?
During your first fitting you get to see and try on your own wedding dress! It's super exciting! The alteration specialist will see how everything fits and give you an idea of which alterations will be needed. She will pin the dress while you're wearing it and talk through all the next steps with you. During your first fitting, you will also have the opportunity to try on veils, hair accessories, shoes, and jewelry to choose accessories that complement your gown and so you can see how everything will look together, unless you have already picked those items.
